S-ar putea să nu fie chiar pe gustul tuturor şi nu doar din cauza faptului că preţul unei ceşti este de 100 de dolari. Secretul celei mai scumpe cafele din lume constă în ingredientul “minune”: excremente de pisică.
În timp ce unii dintre voi ar putea să fie dezgustaţi, Peter Jones este convins că a pus mâna pe o mină de aur. El serveşte în magazinul său din centrul Londrei, espresso, capuccino, caffe latte, toate făcute din excremente.
Boabele sunt extrem de rare, cu mai puţin de 200 kg culese în fiecare an. Boabele sunt extrase din excrementele zibetei, o încrucişare de pisică cu maimuţă, care trăieşte în Indonezia.
Zibetele mănâncă fructe de cafea moi, digeră pulpa fructei şi excretează boabele, pentru că pe acestea nu le pot digera. Muncitorii de pe plantaţii culeg boabele, care apoi sunt vândute cu numele de cafeaua “Luwak”.
Se spune că zibetele aleg cele mai bune şi cele mai coapte fructe de cafea şi se crede că sucul lor gastric îmbunătăţeşte aroma.
